Training FAQ

Q. How do I register for training?
A. A list of upcoming courses can be found here. By clicking on the course name, you’ll be brought to the course description page where you will find course content and the option to register. Fill out and submit the sign-up form and you will be contacted by a member of the Training team once your registration has been processed. Processing of registrations can take up to 2 to 3 business days. If you have pre-purchased or been quoted for your training, please make sure to include the Guidance reference number or quote number.

Q. What courses are covered by my Gold Annual Training Passport?
A. Gold Annual Training Passports cover unlimited classroom courses at Guidance-owned training facilities located in Pasadena, CA; Washington, DC (Dulles, VA); and United Kingdom (Slough, UK). Gold Passports also cover unlimited EnCase® Training OnDemand courses and unlimited EnCase® Training vClasses. Gold Passports are not accepted at Authorized Training Partner locations or for onsite or private training classes.

Q. My Gold or Silver Annual Training Passport is about to expire, can I extend it?
A. Yes, current Gold and Silver Annual Training Passport holders can renew their Passports for an additional year of unlimited training at a discounted rate. Request a Quote »

Q. Are Gold and Silver Annual Training Passports transferrable?
A. Each Gold and Silver Annual Training Passport can only be assigned to one individual. However, Annual Training Passports can be transferred. Unused Annual Training Passports may be transferred at no cost. Fees will apply to transfer an Annual Training Passport that has been used. Please contact training@guid.com to request a transfer.

Q. What do I need to do to obtain my EnCE?
A. Once testing eligibility requirements are met, an EnCE application should be submitted to certification@guid.com for review. Upon approval and payment of testing fees, testing instructions will be provided by the Training Department.

Q. Is there a way to skip course prerequisites?
A. Some course prerequisites can be waived based on your experience, related certifications, and other training with approval from the Training Department. Please request a waiver by submitting your curriculum vitae to training@guid.com for review. Waivers will not be approved for classes that have mandatory prerequisites.

Q. Is there any way I can get into a class that is already full?
A. Classroom and vClass courses have limited capacities, which cannot be exceeded, however, registrants who sign up for a class that is full may be added to a waitlist. Upon availability, seats will be offered in the order that registrations are received.

Q. Can I reserve a seat in a course now and pay for it later?
A. Yes, you may register for the course you would like to attend and your seat will be held until the payment due date (21 days prior to the start of class). If you register for a class that will take place in less than 21 days, payment will be due immediately. Please contact training@guid.com to make payment.

Q. I registered for a class but have not heard anything back. What should I do?
A. Registrations can take 2 to 3 business days to process. You will be contacted either at the email address or the phone number you provided on the sign up form. If you have not been contacted within 3 business days, please contact training@guid.com or call us at 626‑463‑7966.

Q. How do I access Training OnDemand courses?
A. Individuals must register for each EnCase® Training OnDemand course in which they wish to be enrolled. Upon payment of tuition or acceptance of prepaid training programs, such as the Gold and Silver Annual Training Passports, you will be provided login credentials to access the class lessons. Registration can take up to 2 to 3 business days to process.

Q. I am signed up for Training OnDemand; can I get a physical copy of the manual?
A. You will be provided access to a digital manual with printing rights. Physical copies of manuals are not provided for Training OnDemand courses.

Q. Do I need to own EnCase software to attend training?
A. You are not required to purchase EnCase software before attending training. For classroom and vClass training, students will be provided a computer station or remote access to one running the applicable EnCase solution. For Training OnDemand students, lessons and practicals will be accessed through a portal.

Q. Is your training eligible for Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credit?
A. Yes, classroom and vClass courses are eligible for CPE credits. Students that complete classroom and vClass training will receive a certificate of completion and a CPE certificate. Training OnDemand courses do not qualify for CPE credits, but each student receives a certificate of completion after finishing the class. Training OnDemand course credit hours also qualify towards EnCE and CFSR certifications.

Guidance Software, Inc. is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors. State boards of accountancy have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit. Complaints regarding registered sponsors may be submitted to the National Registry of CPE Sponsors through its website: www.nasbaregistry.org.

Q. How long are the classes?
A. Classroom and vClass courses range between 3 to 4 days in length (24 to 32 CPE credit hours). Training OnDemand lessons run the same length of time, however, the courses are self-paced. Individuals can review Training OnDemand lessons at their convenience during their 60-day enrollment period. 

Q. How do I pay for my class?
A. Payment instructions will be provided with your registration confirmation and price quote. Payment methods accepted are credit card, wire transfer, or check. We will also accept company purchase orders for invoicing.

Q. How late can I cancel from a class?
A. Enrollments can be cancelled at any time, however, a late cancellation fee will be charged should you cancel or reschedule attendance in a class 10 business days or less from the start of the class. Please email training@guid.com to cancel or change your registration. 

Q. Is software included with the purchase of training?
A. Software is not included with the purchase of training, however, students will be given access to use EnCase software during training. Some discounts may apply if bundling software and training together. For more information on training and software bundles, contact Sales or call 626-229-9191.

Q. Can I get a transcript of the courses I have taken?
A. Please contact training@guid.com to request a record of your training history.

Q. Do you have a government rate or any discounts available?
A. Tuition prices are the same for all customers. Please contact training@guid.com to find out if any discounts or promotions apply.

Q. What courses are covered by my Silver Annual Training Passport?
A. Silver Annual Training Passports cover four standard Guidance courses and one Silver choice Guidance course per year. Each of the chosen courses may be taken one time, in one available delivery mode. Classroom courses can be taken at Guidance-owned training facilities located in Pasadena, CA; Washington, DC (Dulles, VA); and United Kingdom (Slough, UK). Silver Passports also cover EnCase® Training OnDemand courses and EnCase® Training vClasses. Silver Passports are not accepted at Authorized Training Partner locations or for onsite or private training classes. Silver choice courses include: EnCase® eDiscovery Training, Macintosh Examinations with EnCase®, and Host Intrusion Methodology and Investigation.
