How to Complete Digital Investigations That Win Cases

Digital Forensics | Aug 10, 2016

At Guidance, we never lose sight of the fact that many of you spend hours looking for terrible things that you would rather not find.

I’m happy to say that EnCase Forensic 8 is now available – because it was built with the examiner in mind. As we created version 8, we integrated best practices and the most common investigator requests into the development of this release. Our goal is to make your extremely challenging job a little easier.

We’ve also created a free webinar as an additional resource. Whether you're new on the job, a certified forensic investigator, or anywhere in-between, this webinar will help you get the maximum functionality from Encase Forensic 8. We want to help you find the evidence you need to ultimately win cases and complete your investigations.

In the webinar we explore new capabilities, new navigation and best practices for everything EnCase Forensic. Plus, we will share some of what’s ahead in the next version of EnCase Forensic.  Highlights include:

  • Integration with Project VIC - You can now import the Project VIC hash library into EnCase Forensic as well as export a .JSON file compatible with the VIC data model that can be submitted back to Project VIC for inclusion in their hash sets
  • Pathways - Pathways are investigation workflows to walk you through specific scenarios. Each Pathway contains links that take you to individual steps in the workflow process.
  • Triage Report - The Triage report enables you to customize and quickly generate a fully linked HTML investigation report. Triage Report was designed to make it easier to share information while investigating a case.
  • Entry View Refresh Button - A new button that allows you to refresh the Entry view table after performing hash/sig analysis. It is no longer necessary to exit from Entry view and go back into the evidence to see your hash analysis take effect. Cause man, that made no sense to me.
