CERTIFICATION RENEWAL
Download (73.4K)
The EnCE® designation is valid for two years from the date it is earned. EnCase® Certified Examiners are required to earn sixty-four (64) credit hours of documented continuing education in Computer Forensics or Incident Response every two years to maintain their certification. You can earn one credit hour for each classroom hour of training and 1/2 credit hour for each one hour of instruction as a Computer Forensics or Incident Response curriculum instructor. The training should either be from Guidance, your agency or an accredited source.

Only credit that has been received within the two years prior to the expiration date will be applied towards renewal. Example: If your EnCE expiration date is July 21st 2006, only training taken between July 21st 2004 and July 21st 2006 will count towards renewal.

If you were not given certificates, please send a letter with the following information.

Date of the Class

Number of hours

Name of the class

Who provided the training

Short description of the class

Please do not submit your renewal documents separately, keep all certificates together and only send them when you have the 64 hours needed to renew. Once you have received continuing professional credits from any computer forensics related training, please fill out the renewal form and send it with any certificates/letters to the following fax, email, or mailing address:

EnCE Certification Coordinator
Guidance Software, Inc.
215 N. Marengo Ave. 2nd floor
Pasadena, CA 91101
Email: certification@guidancesoftware.com
Fax: (626)432-9558 or (626)229-9199 (main office fax)

Be aware of your expiration date. It is listed on your wallet card. Should your certification expire, you will be required to restart the EnCEĀ® process from Phase I. Extensions will not be granted.

G.I. BILL REIMBURSEMENT

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs has approved reimbursement under the G.I. Bill for the cost of the EnCase Certified Examiner test. This approval is retroactive to 1 May 2001. Veterans or active-duty service members eligible under the G.I. Bill may apply for reimbursement for the EnCE® test fee. The test fee is reimbursable whether the candidate passes or fails the test, and any retesting fees are also reimbursable.

You can download the Department of Veterans Affairs form Application for Licensing and Certification Testing Fee Reimbursement and submit the form with your test results from Prometric for reimbursement. For more information about this benefit, you can also review the Licensing And Certification Tests page on the GI Bill website.
