FastBloc FE Firmware v1.07 Upgrade

The purpose of this firmware update is to address an issue introduced with Windows XP Service Pack 2 that could result in a slower than expected transfer rate when using the FireWire interface. This update is only required, and will only work, with Windows XP Service Pack 2 and FireWire (the USB interface is unaffected).

Procedure for FastBloc FE Firmware Update
  1. The FastBloc Firmware Uploader application requires Java drivers to run.
Open a browser navigate to http://www.java.com/en and select "Java Software Download" to install the Java Runtime Environment.
  2. Download the FastBloc Firmware Uploader application HERE.
  3. Run FastBlocFE107.msi to start the FastBlocFE107 Setup Wizard. The installer will guide you through the steps required to install FastBlocFE 107.
  4. Reboot the computer after the FastBlocFE 107 application installs.
  5. Connect the FastBloc to the PC using the FireWire interface
  6. Power ON the FastBloc device.
  7. Run the Updategui.jar application from the C:\Program Files\ICS\FastBlocFE107 directory. The Updater Console will be displayed.

  8. Select Upgrade Firmware. A message will be displayed prompting to "Select Firmware File".
  9. To begin the Firmware upgrade operation, open the file FastBloc_FE_1_07.BIN from the install directory PROGRAM FILES\ICS\FASTBLOCFE107\DATA\UF922. A flash support file will be uploaded to the device and a message will be displayed indicating "Programming".
  10. A message will be displayed indicating "Programming Done" when the operation completes. Power OFF the FastBloc device at this time to complete to operation.

Note:

The procedure can only be performed once per device after a successful operation. Attempt to upgrade the device a second time will result in an error such as "The device is currently running invalid firmware"
