FastBloc®2 Firmware Chipset Configuration Utility
The FastBloc®2 LE and FE employ firmware optimized for efficient operation with modern hard drives. Users who need to frequently access a diverse array of devices (such as older hard drives or optical drives) may prefer better compatibility than the default settings offer. Likewise, users who primarily use their dock with only one type of device might wish to optimize their dock for that usage.
Older drives can transfer data slower with modern DMA/UDMA settings, and optical drives require different settings altogether. The WiebeTech Configurator allows users to optimize the FastBloc®2 to better handle less common drives, marginal drives, or optical drives. The Configurator gives the user the ability to adjust the firmware on the chipset to match the drive, giving better performance, and in some cases, dramatically increase acquisition speed.
Unless you have a single drive type that you wish to optimize the FastBloc®2 for, it is highly recommended that you change the settings to match the drive you are working. Leaving the setting optimized for older drives can cause a delay in speeds of newer drives. The Configurator (which works on Windows XP and 2000 platforms) can be downloaded here:
